July Update

There's a lot of things I wasn't told when I moved back to Cincinnati in January to go on staff. None of which are things anyone would think to tell me about prior to joining staff, such as how up and down summers can be or how much sound equipment one church can have tucked away into a small garage. Both of these things have become apparent recently as July has been a month of one week having nothing to do and the next week barely finding time to breathe.

Life Update

Outside of ministry, July has been busy simply due to the moving process. My roommates and I spent a week moving to another house a mere two blocks away but is much nicer than our previous place (especially since we now have AC in the bedrooms). That was ordeal, but not as much of a headache as moving all of H2O's sound equipment. For the past couple of years, we've kept it in the garage of a house of ours. On the 15th of August, however, that house will no longer be an H2O house and thus it was necessary to find another suitable location to store everything. Thankfully, a group of guys in our ministry found a house capable of storing everything--the hassle was moving all of our sound equipment and then organizing it in an effective manner.

To talk about more serious things, a couple newsletters ago I mentioned a desire to go back to school and pursue my Master's in Education. In fact, I even took some classes during the Spring semester to do so. After a lot of prayer and consideration, I have chosen to not pursue that route and instead work on becoming full-time supported with H2O. When I returned to Cincinnati, I returned as part-time to give myself the time to take classes. With that no longer in the plan, I want to go full-time with H2O and pursue the only real thing God's placed on my heart. I love working with this ministry and love the work God is placing in front of me and don't feel him calling me away from it anytime soon.

Fall Semester

Over the past month, our staff team has spent a lot of time planning for the upcoming fall semester. A big part of this has been Life Group assignments for the upcoming year. For those of you unfamiliar with H2O Cincinnati's model for Life Groups, we have eight that meet across UC's campus in the dorms every Thursday at 8pm to make them super accessible for the freshmen and one that meets at 4:30 on Thursdays targeted towards commuter students. In the past our Life Groups have always followed the previous Sunday's sermon and delved deeper into it. Moving forward, however, we decided to separate our Life Groups from the Sunday sermons and give each group more flexibility on the content they choose to go over. So, myself and Kyle, a co-worker of mine, have been busy developing a bank of Life Group content. So far, we have studies written over the Gospel of John, Philippians, Ephesians, Colossians, and Galatians.

As for myself, I will be involved in two Life Groups this year. On top of being a Point Person in the Life Group serving Morgens and Scioto Dorm Halls, I will also be helping lead our commuter Life Group, other known as TUC Life Group (named after the building we meet in). If you want to read more about the changes we'll be making, I wrote a blog post a while back detailing all the changes. You can view that blog post here.

Our (extended) staff team

Once again, I want to thank all of you who are supporting me either financially or via prayer through all of this as you are making it possible for me and the rest of H2O Cincinnati's staff team to reach the students at the University of Cincinnati. If you are not a part of my financial support team, I ask that you prayerfully consider joining me and my mission with H2O Cincinnati at a monthly amount by clicking on the "give" button on the top of your screen.

God Bless!
